Katie studies earth surface processes and natural hazards using passive seismic methods. Her research focused on debris flows, outburst floods, and other mass movements. She also works on regional-scale tectonic earthquake studies and induced seismicity.

Kalyn earned a degree in Applied Physics at the University of California, Davis, and is currently completing a degree in Geology. She is working to analyze seismic recordings from Black Mountain, NWT and investigate potential rockfall signals through waveform template matching. Outside of research, Kalyn tutors mathematics and physics and enjoys helping students build confidence in science.
